Vajrasatva is known as the Bodhissatva of purification. The Vajrasatva mantra is believed to purify karma, bring peace and increase enlightened activities.

The Vajrasatva mantra is commonly practiced throughout all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism, as it is believed to purify the mind and create a clear mind appropriate to reach enlightenment. It is believed that all deeds and actions leave impressions on our consciousness, no matter how trivial, thus this purification is necessary in order to rid us of any negative impressions we may harbor and hold within. This practice fits with the symbolism of the Bell and Vajra, which is used to rid us of our inner evil, and create a clear mind suitable to attain enlightenment.
